Welcome to the COSMOCT site!

View from Taormina

The acronym stands for Cosmology and Computational Astrophysics at Catania Astrophysical Observatory: this is the EC Marie-Curie ''Transfer of Knowledge'' project, approved under the VI Framework Programme of the European Community, which has triggered the formation of the Cosmology Group at our Institution. The Project started officially on April 1st, 2004, and will last 4 years. Our partners are the Department of Astrophysics, Oxford, UK and the Max Planck InstitÜte fÜr Astrophysik in Potsdam, Germany

We are based in Catania, a sunny town lying at the feet of Mount Etna (3250 meters a.s.l), the highest active volcano in Europe.

Our research activities are mostly centered on three fields: We are also making an effort to enlarge our group. We have awarded a postdoctoral position, and we also have a senior visitor program. In addition, we plan to organize workshops and/or adavcned schools on specific, particularly ''hot'' problems.

We would like to invite you to have a look at the main menu on the left to have a more thorough view of our activities, and do not hesitate to contact us for any further information!
